The newer drivers have rid this fix. But not with ahci. In my case, it simply fixed the driver installation from the failed Windows update as the driver that runs on my machine is from and the driver used in the above steps is from Link to old Click on “Browse my computer for driver software” and then browse to where the AMD installer extracted the files.

System is Windows 10 Pro x When I had windows 7 installed it used to show 4 ATA devices, now it only shows 2. Microsoft still pushes bad update for Sb700//sb750 drivers. Long story short, I took a trip to boot recovery to use system restore. Thanks for the updates.
Just adjust folders as necessary if you are running Vista or a 32 bit OS. This fixed my issue as well.
